The work that is represented on the pages of this website reflects the way that my painting has developed over a number of years. I was originally trained as an Illustrator and Graphic Designer and I believe that the earlier work, mainly in the watercolour medium reflects this with its concentration on rich detail. Of late I have become less concerned with the truly representational depiction of the subject and more interested in, colour, paint texture and its application and the creation of atmosphere and tension. The qualities of immediacy and controlled accident playing an important role. The transition from watercolour to the oil medium  was a necessary and essential part of this progression.
